TOPIC: ID for a friend

ID for a friend 4 months 6 days ago #3171

Found in Massachusetts by a friend, late September. Only 2 pictures. Any possibility of an ID? Or best guess?

Don't recognize it, obviously an eastern mushroom.... Looking at it, it has the general appearance of a clitocybe, but because of the thick gills and the spotted dark grey on the stipe, I wonder if it isnt a Hygrophourus. Often they have both the same decurrent cap shape plus a cuticle on the stem or cap that breaks up into spots or streaks as the surfaces grows and stretches. We have lots of those with similar characteristics but not exactly that look.
