TOPIC: Any Thoughts On ID For This One??

Any Thoughts On ID For This One?? 2 years 4 months ago #2549

Regrets for inadequate info provided, but one of my mining colleagues sent me a set of photos and did not know what data was required for the best possible chance at ID.
- Growing on remains of hemlock stumps on his lawn
- No Odor
- Turned black on decomposition
- No info on spore print

The best I could do was Hypholoma genus? or possibly a Pholiota (from a BC myco-colleague). No worries if you do not wish to tackle this one. Mining buddy has been given a lecture on what data is needed.

I would agree with hypholoma sp but would not be surprised that it was a Pholiota, psathyrella or something else. Super slimy but if the mushroom was picked two hours later I sure it would not look the same. Can't remember finding any quite like that.
